The wheels industry got no respite, with the Supreme Magistrate extending the ban on all diesel vehicles of 2000cc and above.
The noon magistrate rejected a joint plea of several carmakers to indulge registration of diesel run 2000 cc and whilom topics cars and SUVs in the Delhi-National Wanted Region (NCR).
The automobile manufacturers had moved the Supreme Magistrate seeking modification of the court's December order banning registration of diesel vehicles in the capital.
The most aggrieved companies like Mahindra, Toyota and Mercedes Benz India had appealed versus the ban on large topics (2,000cc+) diesel cars and SUVs. These three automakers are the most hit by the ban with most of their weightier sellers vehicles going off the shelf in the NCR.

We hope for a favorable verdict in the next hearing as Mercedes-Benz vehicles not only comply with the regulatory limits (BS IV), they do so with significant margin."
While Indo-Japanese carmaker Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, "Auto companies will now have to share their response on why they requirement diesel is not polluting. Our understanding is that if BS I/II/III vehicles are phased-out, it would be increasingly constructive in executive pollution than restricting registration of new BS IV vehicles. All these issues will come up for detailed discussion in the next hearing on January 20", said T S Jaishankar, deputy managing director (commercial), Toyota Kirloskar Motor."
The matter is expected to be taken up on January 20 for remoter discussion.
